Are these the same Taggies sold in stores?
Yes. Everything here is the Taggies range from Mary Meyer, the Vermont toy company sewing since 1933. This site is the shop window; the buying happens with our retail partner.
What are the tags actually for?
Babies find fabric edges fascinating and will rub a satin corner far longer than they hold the toy itself. We noticed, then started sewing little satin loops around everything we make.
How do I wash a lovey?
Machine wash cold on gentle, then air dry. Skip the dryer when you can; heat is what makes satin lose its slide. A lingerie bag helps the tags keep their shape.
What size should a first lovey be?
Smaller than you think. The little character blankets around 12 to 14 inches are the ones that end up in the crib and the diaper bag; the big plush is better as a shelf friend for later.
Can I get the same character in different toys?
Often, yes. Many of our characters come as a blanket, a rattle and a take-along clip, so the same face can live in the crib, the hand and the stroller. Character pages list every form we make.
The one I wanted shows as gone. Will it come back?
Sometimes. Stock lives with our retail partner and moves daily. If a character matters to you, check its family on the character row; a different form of the same face is usually there.
